Current Sense Transformer

Current Sense Transformer is utilized for measuring electrical energy conducting through a conductor. It has a primary winding that is joined in series with the conductor carrying the electrical energy to be measured, and a secondary winding that is attached to a measuring device like an ammeter or oscilloscope. The key winding is engineered to have a minimum turns that allows it to be inserted into the circuit without affecting the electrical energy being measured. The secondary winding is designed to have a greater number of turns, allowing it for producing a voltage signal that is proportionate to the electrical energy conducting through the main winding. Current Sense Transformer is commonly utilized in power electronics applications, like switch-mode power supplies and motor control circuits.
